Position Description:

Vim Pacific is seeking a Project Engineer. This position is remote/work-from-home. However, applicants must be located in the Pacific Northwest, as some local travel is required. As a small and growing firm, we are looking for an engineer with strong soft skills and the ability to analyze energy savings across a range of industrial systems. This person should have the ability to communicate well with the team, as well as take initiative and work effectively independently.

This role includes:

• Analyzing data and calculating energy savings related to industrial and/or agricultural equipment and systems (may include: pumps, fans, motors, air compressors, chillers, HVAC, lighting, boilers, steam systems, refrigeration, air handlers, heat recovery, controls, and equipment specific to controlled indoor agriculture)

• Technical report writing and reviewing

• Building and managing customer relationships

Preferred qualifications:

Our Project Engineers work directly with our industrial clients to identify and study opportunities for maximizing energy efficiency and performance in industrial systems.

We are seeking an Efficiency and Sustainability Engineer (Program Engineer) with experience in industrial systems and/or energy efficiency to join our Corporate Energy Management team and work directly with our corporate direct customers to help design, implement and manage energy programs. The Program Engineer engages directly with customers and takes a consultative role to assess their operations, systems, equipment, and resources in order to identify opportunities for reducing energy spend.

 

The Program Engineer has a demonstrated understanding the utility incentive program and works to maximize ROI and deliver on our contractual requirements. This encompasses information services, data gathering, reporting, hardware design, installation, and maintenance, and management of data flow from device through reporting. 

The Program Engineer is responsible for managing a portfolio of assigned projects while also making contributions towards the continuous improvement of our Corporate Energy Management (CEM) systems. This role entails program management, technical expertise, and project management, towards the delivery of optimum results for our customers.

Energy Advisors are vital to the success of the Virtual Commissioning Program, designed and implemented by Power TakeOff. Position Summary

The Program Manager is primarily for providing leadership on one of our energy efficiency programs. In this hands-on management role, you will oversee energy programs and will work closely with both clients and our energy professionals to achieve client energy efficiency goals and other program objectives. You will also be working with others who are passionate about energy efficiency and making a positive impact on the industry.

  • Develop and implement a plan to attract new customer’s/trade allies to obtain program objectives.
  • Provide administrative services plan to develop customer correspondence and application processing.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the program’s strategic direction regarding energy efficiency and the business activities of its customers.
  • Complete reviews of program applications to ensure adherence to program rules and requirements.
  • Develop QA/QC plan to ensure accurate program results and good evaluation results.
  • Coordinate with program evaluators to understand evaluation plans and communicate program procedures.
  • Communicate evaluation plans with program staff to ensure understanding and proper procedures.
  • Manage direct reports and oversee program staff. This includes interviewing, planning, assigning, completing performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring and directing work.
  • Responsible for completing quarterly safety QA/QC audits of staff.
  • Mentor program personnel in achieving their personal goals annually as well as their long-term development goals.
  • Hold program personnel accountable for personal and overall program goals.
  • Understand and implement the Franklin Energy Sales Process, which includes both trade allies and customer outreach/sales.
  • Assist training department and reinforce classroom sales training for all direct report field staff.
  • Provide administrative services to develop customer correspondence and application processing.
  • Complete pre and/or post site visits as needed.
  • Develop case studies.
  • Assist the client with idea generation and research on program options.
  • Manage the utility relationship and serve as an advocate for our client.
  • Manage a multi-million-dollar budget over multiple years including allocations to labor, expenses, subcontractors, and customer incentives.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership to program staff including managing incentive promotions, marketing programs, and assisting team creatively meet the goals of the program.
  • Monitor and manage program budgets to ensure full utilization of funds while meeting or exceeding energy goals.
  • Develop and oversee the processing of energy efficiency project paperwork through energy efficiency tracking system.
  • Prepare monthly invoices and activity reports as required to the client, partner or Franklin Energy management by the requested due date.
  • Incorporate “best practice” methods of energy efficiency program implementation.
  • Provide a professional appearance appropriate to represent both Franklin Energy and the utilities.
  • Lead and attend relevant presentations promoting energy efficiency programs.
  • Practice effective project management skills in leading this program.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of operations year after year.
  • Assist the Regional Manager in meeting all program goals.

 

Position Requirements

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Advanced degree - Preferred
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management/supervisory experience including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, and mentoring.
  • Proficiency in financial management.
  • Background in engineering, technology or science and experience in working in a technical environment – Preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing energy efficiency programs – Preferred
  • Experience in lighting, HVAC, and other technologies installed in commercial and industrial applications – Preferred
  • Technical experience in developing and/or reviewing energy savings calculations to determine paybacks and incentive levels for customers – Preferred

 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Sales or business development background - A plus
  • Proven leadership in fast paced environment.

Overall Description

Reporting to Orbia’s Vice President of Sustainability, the Director of Environmental Responsibility will be responsible for building and executing an industry-leading sustainability program that minimizes negative impacts on the  environment, while maximizing positive benefits; matches or exceeds best practices for reporting; and facilitates external partnerships that build collaboration and learning. This role will be held by a visible leader of our sustainability programs and will champion our work internally within Business Groups and externally with peer companies and stakeholders.

About The Job

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and drive implementation of the environmental components of Orbia’s Sustainability strategy; achieving internal consensus on roadmaps to achieve the Company’s long-term sustainability goals. 

 

  • Align, inform, and inspire colleagues to help fulfill the Company’s strategic environmental objectives by regularly communicating progress and fostering collaboration between businesses to accelerate progress when needed. 

  • Develop specific strategies, including, but not limited: greenhouse gas emissions reduction, water efficiency and balance, waste reduction, circular economy, natural capital accounting.

  • Conduct life cycle analysis assessments.

  • Produce progress reports for VP of Sustainability and Leadership Team.

  • Drive key partnerships, memberships and engagements with external partners that both support execution of the Company’s environmental commitments and help move the industry in the same direction.

  • Foster a culture of cross pollination of best practices as well as crowd-sourcing solutions in all matters environment.

  • Continuously assess evolving environmental best practices and use relevant learning to improve the Company’s programs, impact and reporting. 

  • Lead to aggregate and consolidate environmental information for inquiries from investors, ratings organizations and disclosure agencies.

  • Stays informed of environmental compliance of Business Groups, and alongside EHS and Legal areas, maps potential risks, and advices Sustainability VP and all leadership team on needs regarding environmental compulsory and voluntary trends globally.

 

Qualifications

  • Highest standards of personal ethics and integrity.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred. Field of study preferably chemical engineering, environmental science, chemical engineering, or equivalent field. Very good understanding of the chemical industry and chemical processes is a must.

  • Minimum Fifteen years of combined experience in environmental health, sustainability and/or environmental policy.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in sustainability within a large organization, or proof of significant influence of practice change in private sector.

  • Excellent strategic planning and project management skills and experience managing large, complex projects.

  • Demonstrates alignment with Orbia’s Purpose, Core Values and leadership capabilities.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships with diverse individuals.

  • Experience working in a multicultural environment, across several geographies.

  • Able to represent the Company effectively in industry and multi-stakeholder coalitions, working groups and membership organizations.

Location and Travel

 

The position is to be based preferably in Mexico City. Boston, Amsterdam or Tel Aviv are the other options for location.

 

This position requires at least 40% travel, with trips being decided upon sometimes with very few days notice. High flexibility of travel is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintain a detail project management plan including project schedule, progress on deliverables, roadblock identification, and needs to complete deliverables on time.

2. Build relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners and collaborate with internal cross-functional and remote project teams.

3. Responsible for identifying and implementing cost saving strategies and budgeting for utilities within an account.

4. Evaluate energy markets for savings opportunities. Develop a priority based action plan based on the savings analysis from utility rate optimization and/or third-party retail contract potential, designed to generate savings.

5. Identify and Evaluate third party contract opportunities for sites in deregulated electricity and natural gas markets. To uncover sites where savings may exist from moving the energy supply onto a third party contract.

6. Review existing utility rate structures for all electricity and natural gas accounts and utility providers to ensure Amazon is served by the most cost-effective utility rate, especially in regulated markets where third party supply is not possible.

7. Work with CBRE’s Energy Procurement Solutions Group to identify and evaluate third-party contract opportunities for sites in deregulated electricity and natural gas markets that are not currently part of Amazon’s Retail Energy Procurement Strategy.

8. Manage blocking issues, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and meet committed delivery timelines

9. Working knowledge of green tariffs, renewable energy contracts and incentive programs.
Function Specific Work Activities :

10. Manage energy supply contracts (eg. PPAs, retail energy agreements) including benchmarking performance, auditing payments and managing renewals.

11. Ensure Amazon and its counterparties are compliant with energy supply contracts

12. Manage project selection process including setting and maintaining best practices for solicitations and vendor selection

13. Manage Amazon Energy’s compliance program by driving timeline regulatory filings, validating inputs, writing concise documentation.

14. Manage environmental attribute tracking and retirement.

Qualifications


- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning or related field.

- 3-5 years’ experience in a mid-size or large company in the following areas: project management, utility procurement, construction management

- 3+ years of power contracting experience or working in the utility/energy industry

- Demonstrated advanced project management skills working with multiple levels of stakeholders across the organization

- Highly competent with personal computers and productivity software, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and SharePoint, lease administration and familiarity with relational databases; knowledge of Saleforce.com a plus.

- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.

MBA or Master’s degree in engineering
