Employing SCADA and Internet of Things in Wastewater Facilities

Presented By:
Mahsa Farzaneh- PhD student, University of Florida IAC

The Internet of Things (IoT) involves creating a network of machines, equipment, phones, etc. that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies so that they can send and receive data with other devices and data storage sites via wireless internet. SCADA and IoT utilize different technologies to transfer data from the plant to the central control computer system. In this webinar, we consider the typical wastewater treatment processes that can benefit from IoT.

IAC Webinar - Pump System Assessment for Optimization

Presented By:
Peter Gaydon, Deputy Executive Director - Hydraulic Institute

Pumping systems are often overlooked related to energy savings potential, but the US Department of Energy identified pumping systems as having the greatest potential for savings due to optimization. On average optimizing pumping systems results in 20% savings, but in certain cases, the savings can exceed 65%. Attend this session to learn the potential benefits from assessing pumping systems, what to consider in the walk through to prioritize your opportunities, and strategies for optimizing the pumping systems.

The GHG Protocol: Standards in Accounting a Company’s GHG Emissions

Presented By:
Sara Gordon – Project Consultant at WSP, Praneet Arshi – Project Consultant at WSP

On assessments, we typically measure emissions, resulting from combustion, using flue gas analyzers. However, these emissions are only a fraction of the total emission resulting from a company's value chain. Globally, companies use the GHG protocol to standardize and account for GHG emissions for which they are responsible or influence. During this presentation, we will show you how to calculate a company's emissions using the GHG protocol.
